Clevedon Pilot Gig Club returned from the World Pilot Gig Championships with their best-ever results.

Members of Clevedon Pilot Gig Club fled to the Isle of Scilly to attend the 29th World Pilot Gig Championships, with nine crews competeing throughout the weekend.

Racing started with the vets (over-40s) and super vets (over-50s) races. They showed Clevedon how it should be done with ladies vets finishing 36th, men’s vets finishing 24th and men’s super vets finishing 20th.

The main competition consists of four races over two days, but sadly due to fog the Sunday morning races were cancelled. The men’s A crew beat the club record and won their heat finishing 37th in the world. The ladies A came 32nd, men’s B 81st, ladies B 101st, men’s C 138th and ladies C 125th.

Crews are ready to continue training hard to see what we can achieve throughout the rest of the season.
