Tracy Matthews completed a clean sweep of championship titles on Portishead Tennis Club finals day recently.

Matthews won the singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions.

She put in a dominant display to overcome Lynne Kretzschmar 6-0, 6-1.

Kretzschmar, who had a tricky passage to the final, put on a brave display in the final but Matthews proved too strong.

In her doubles wins, Matthews teamed up with Emma Rossiter to defeat Berni Howard and Allison Williamson, and with James McCall to defeat Chris Street and Berni Howard, both in straight sets.

In the stand out contest of the day, Matt Cooper survived two match points to overcome Alex Street in the men’s singles final.

An encounter of real quality saw Street have the chance to serve out the match at 6-5.

However, Cooper would go on to win eight successive points to force a tie-break and pulled away, building a gap that would prove too big for Street to come back from, winning 7-3 in three hours and 15 minutes.

Street did pick up a winner’s medal with Jack Bowden, defeating Russ Lambard and Moray Fleming in straight sets in the doubles.

Archie Body beat Oliver Wescott to retain his singles title.
