The dancing ranges from early English dances seen in period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice to modern Western squares and contras.
There is a strong connection between barn and folk dancing, but club secretary Roy Sadler describes folk dancing as more varied and great fun.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary the club held a special annual dance. The caller for the occasion was Ivan Aitken, who is well-known on the national folk dance scene.
Live music was provided by The Weston Country Dance Band, which plays at dances and folk festivals all over the country. Dancers from other clubs in the area also enjoyed the celebratory evening.
The club caters for all ages but it is advisable to have a partner if possible.
Roy said: Anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to come along for an evening, without obligation, to see for themselves how much fun folk dancing can be.
If you dont have a partner this does not matter as long as you dont mind if you have to dance with a member of the same sex.
As a club we no longer take part in competitions but some members take part in folk festivals around the country.
Members can opt for an annual or weekly membership.
