Members have travelled all over the region throughout the Spring and summer. They took field trips to Fishbourne Roman Palace in Sussex, Goblin Coombe in Cleeve and Gaulden Manor and Gardens in Tolland.
Enthusiasts have also taken in the medieval churches in Yatton and Wrington and most recently they took a tour of Woodspring Priory in Kewstoke.
The fun does not stop in the winter with plenty of lectures to keep everyone occupied.
Among those on the agenda are talks on exploring archaeological archives held at Somerset Records Office, the otters of the Somerset Levels, archaeology for the people, plants of Roman Somerset, ancient Egyptian art and the archaeology of Uphill.
The club was first established in 1892 and at one point it had only two members.
It was originally the Axbridge District and Weston branch of the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society.
The founder was Colonel Long, who was president for many years and only took a two year break to serve in the Boer War.
From 1909 up until World War Two, meetings were held in Browns Cafe on the seafront. The get-togethers stopped though when the fighting broke out.
The minutes of the very next meeting, read: At the opening of the branch after being closed for six years, on January 5, 1946, there was a very large attendance of member old and new.
Mr Barton was the next president, followed by Mr Rye. In 1974 when the county of Avon was formed, the branch in its current form was established.
New members are always welcome to come along and bring their experiences to the historical and archaeological table.
