Weston will soon be host to top gymnasts from all over the country thanks to the efforts of a local club.
Weston Aerobic Gymnastics has more than 100 members and has seen three of its members achieve international success.
The elite gymnastics squad, which has members aged from 9-30, travels around the world to take part in various championships.
In July the team competed in Los Angeles and Mathew Saunders, aged 10, Kat Saunders, aged 16, and Trina Rose, aged 15, came third in an American international gymnastics competition.
The club has not only seen the rise of these three British champions. Founder Debbie Saunders has recently become national coach to the 10 and 11 year age group for the British gymnast team and will soon be coaching gymnasts from all over the country at the clubs base on The Potteries.
Debbie said: As a team we have worked very hard to win some major tournaments. I am very proud of all of them.
The club was also the first in the area to achieve the GymMark kite mark, developed by British Gymnastics in partnership with Sport England and the NSPCC. This recognises that the club is safe, effective and child friendly.
The club is open to children and adults of all fitness and gymnastic ability.
Classes such as yoga and pilates are available for adults of all ages and there is also a recreational class, which takes children aged from three to 16.
Debbie said: The recreational and adult fitness classes are very important to me - getting people to be enthusiastic about fitness is my life.
