A creative mind and a love to gossip - that’s the two main things you need to join Stitch and Bitch.
The Wedmore-based group, which was only set up in January, already boasts members of all ages and abilities but is looking for more recruits to join in the fun.
Stitch and Bitch was the brainchild of Penny Vivian, who wanted to find out more about needlework and creative projects.
Penny said: I wanted to get like-minded people together to share each others skills and talk about textile projects.
The name is totally tongue-in-cheek.
We just like to have a go at different kinds of craft and show each other what we are working on.
Collectively, the group boasts a range of skills including knitting, crocheting, felting, and cross-stitch.
Each group member has their own speciality that they can share with other members who are still learning.
Penny said: When I started the group I was just a beginner in knitting but Ive seen a great improvement in my work and you can see how much other members have progressed as well.
Although the group is called Stitch and Bitch, Penny is eager to point out that men are more than welcome. She said: We do have an occasional male member but it would be nice to see more men join in.
Members can be of any age as well and it would be good to see some of the younger people in the village joining in.
The group meets once a month to socialise and members use the time to work on a project, as it is hard to set aside an hour in the busy everyday life of a full-time career person or parent.
Not only do the members use the meeting as an excuse to a have a natter, they also talk about upcoming craft exhibitions and sales in the South West and Wales.
The group has already made a name for itself in the village when members sold menopausal dolls, complete with droopy boobs and swollen ankles, to raise funds for local charities.
Members are now busy threading needles and stitching the finishing touches to pieces which will be displayed at an exhibition in November.
The event will showcase artwork from across the West Country to raise money for IT for the Terrified, a group which teaches Wedmore residents how to use computers.
The exhibition will be held from November 9-11 at The Barn in Lerburne House, Wedmore.
