Those over 60 and in need of adding some more entertainment and friends to their lives need look no further - The Good Companions Club in Brent Knoll is the club for you.
A range of parties, outings, speakers and lunches are organised by the group throughout the year.
Club chairman Ruth Knott said: It is for people over 60 who want something to do and would like to meet some people.
A lot of people that come just want to meet new people and get out. Anyone is welcome at the meetings, whether they are single, divorced or as a couple.
We have a variety of entertainment, guest speakers, organise outings and parties.
On our trips, which are twice a year, we try to go to National Trust places in the South West in Devon, Cornwall or Gloucestershire. We have two garden parties every year, which are held locally. Every Christmas we have a lunch at the Beachcomber Inn Pub, in Brean.
Around 35-40 people come to our meetings where we have tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes. Everyone also brings something for the raffle we hold, such as a packet of biscuits or cake.
All those at the meeting will then go away with a prize at the end, which is nice.
We are now also looking for a new chairman and deputy.
The Good Companions Club is in its 41st year and comes under the umbrella of the Womens Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS). The WRVS is a charity that provides services to help people in need who feel isolated and lonely.
