CONFECTIONARY, films, ice skating, climbing and canoeing are just some of the activities girls in the 23rd Weston Guides get to enjoy.
The girl guides now have a number of new, modern badges that members can work towards and guider-in-charge Sarah Westcott believes the association has successfully updated its image.
The 30-year-old said: "Some of the badges that are available for the girls to try include party planning, learning crafts and learning about chocolate and its history.
"However, guiding is not just for girlie girls as there are badges for such a huge number of skills and activities.
"This term we will be working towards a fire safety badge and as part of it we will visit a fire station."
Sarah runs the group along with assistant guider Julie Andrews, plus helper Teresa Wadman and young leader Louise.
They work with the girls to achieve one badge each term.
Sarah said: "We have such fun and I think the guides group is a brilliant way for youngsters to make new friends.
"I think it is excellent for their development as well because I still use skills today that I learnt as a guide many years ago.
"Everything we do is lead by what the girls suggest and what they will enjoy."
Sarah is hoping the number of members in the group will increase to secure its future.
She added: "The group was nearly forced to close in the past because of low member numbers.
"It was only kept running thanks to the efforts of the former leader Pat.
"Now I want to increase our numbers by about 20, as the maximum we can have in the group is 28."
