Strong winds and heavy rain will batter North Somerset this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 3am-3pm on Sunday as clouds move in.

The area has been blessed with around six weeks of beautiful weather, with temperatures reaching as high as 30C.

But the forecaster warns there may be spray and some flooding in the roads as well as large waves a possible loss of power as the storms hit.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds are expected on Sunday.

“Southerly winds will gust at around 35-40 mph and up to 50 mph for exposed coasts and hills. In addition to the wind, heavy rain is expected.

“The weather conditions on Sunday will come in stark contrast to what has been typical recently; this may increase the chance of impacts.”
