Car crash results in road closure

A road is closed this morning (Sunday) after a crash involving two cars.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed Bristol Road, in Wraxall, has been closed following the incident.

Police, ambulance and an air ambulance and three fire appliances are at the scene.

One elderly man who police say was trapped in a car has been rescued.

He has suffered head injuries but they are not considered life threatening.

*UPDATE* Police reopened Bristol Road at 12.57pm.

First Bus’ X9 service which had been diverted through Failand and Tickenham following the X6 route is now back to its normal route.

A spokesman for Avonmouth Fire Station said: “This morning we attended a road traffic collision in Wraxall with two other crews from Portishead and Nailsea

“We were joined by an air ambulance and Avon and Somerset police.

“One male casualty was rescued and taken to hospital, his injuries are not life threatening.”
