A pair of popular leisure centres will show off their wide range of facilities this month, and the Times has a prize worth a whopping £900 to give away.

Scotch Horn and Backwell leisure centres will host an open day on October 21 from 10am-4pm, offering people the chance to sample the excellent facilities – including the swimming pool – free of charge.

The leisure centres boast a long list of top-class offerings and instructors, who will be on hand to share their wisdom at the open day.

Scotch Horn Leisure Centre, in Nailsea, is home to a 48-station gym and a 16-station weight gym – plus excellent facilities for group classes like spinning.

Backwell Leisure Centre boasts two swimming pools, a health suite featuring a sauna, a steam room and a 17-station gym.

General manager Mel Proctor encouraged people to attend the open day and to try their luck in the Times’ competition.

She said: “We are very excited about Scotch Horn and Backwell’s open day this year and to be able to share our fitness facilities with the community.

“Our aim is to encourage everyone to get involved, and this event is a great opportunity to sample some of our activities for free and get the whole family active.”
