This year’s Portishead Carnival queen has been crowned.

Lottie Maggs, aged 15, will take centre stage as this summer’s 2018 carnival queen and will head up the town’s carnival royal family.

Royal family co-ordinator, Debs Charman, praised Lottie’s enthusiasm for the high-profile role.

She said: “Lottie was chosen as the winner after expressing her love of the carnival and demonstrating community spirit when she was interviewed.

“She also came up with some good fundraising ideas.”

Being named the winner of the competition, Lottie received a tiara and Mall gift voucher, sponsored by the Times.

The Gordano School pupil, will lead the carnival procession through the streets on June 16.

The carnival’s princesses and flower girls were selected at a disco in March.
