A charitable duo are braving the elements to complete a 100km walk for the NSPCC.

Mercury reporter Sheridan Robins, aged 25, and student radiographer Louise Scarff, aged 32, have already begun a rigorous training programme to prepare for the Cotswold Challenge in July.

The pair will start off in Bath and hike along footpaths through woodland and over hilltops before crossing the finish line in Cheltenham.

Sheridan said: “I wanted to do something which would both challenge me personally and give back to an important charity. “The NSPCC does so much for children who are suffering – and has done for many years. They are the future so this is definitely the perfect charity to donate to.”

Sheridan told the Mercury they signed up on a ‘whim’ and quickly realised the extent of the ‘tough’ challenge they face.

She added: “We have already started training as you cannot underestimate how far 100k is and we want to make sure we complete it.”

Louise added: “It is a cause quite close to my heart having worked in the health care industry my entire career, so I am excited to raise as much money as possible.
