Tickenham village hall hosted a race night on Saturday which raised £1,500 for the Jessie May Trust.

More than 100 people attended the fundraiser, in Clevedon Road, to support families with terminally ill children.

Bookies and stands were set up, while party games, a disco and a special visit from Father Christmas were also available on the night.

The evening was organised by Excel 96, which supports local children’s charities by hosting events and sending all proceeds to the relevant organisations.

Julian Withers, head of fundraising and communications for the Jessie May Trust, said: “We’ve had a strong working relationship with Excel 96 for nearly 20 years, and this night is always the highlight of our year.

“Bringing families together at Christmas time is hugely important, and to see so many smiling faces made the evening a great success.”
