It was a night to remember for two North Somerset drama groups as they picked up five prizes at the Somerset Fellowship of Drama awards.

Tickenham Drama Group bagged a hat-trick of awards, including the David Beach trophy for best production, Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods.

In total, they had 12 nominations and their village hall, in Clevedon Road, was named best small venue.

Chelsie Hemmings was crowned best female in a leading role for her portrayal of the baker’s wife.

Competition adjudicator, Jadi Carlyon, said: “Tickenham Drama Group clearly has a core of experienced and confident actors and singers on which to draw and they all played their part with aplomb.”

North Somerset neighbours Failand Drama Circle went home with two gongs.

It won prizes for best sound and the bright technical award for their 2017 show, Little Shop of Horrors.
