Severe delays on M5 after three-vehicle accident

Hour-long delays are expected on the M5 this afternoon (Friday) following an accident involving three vehicles.

There are severe delays and queuing traffic on the M5 northbound following a crash between junction 20 (Clevedon) junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare).

All three lanes were briefly closed before the inside lane was re-opened at 1.10pm.

A second accident occurred within the queuing traffic but this has now been cleared.

Highways England is expecting delays of up to an hour with normal conditions returning by 2.30pm.

Drivers travelling southbound between junction 18 (Avonmouth) and junction 20 can also expect delays of up to 30 minutes due to congestion.
