Stricter parking limits may be introduced on a residential street near Nailsea and Backwell Railway Station.

A proposal to restrict parking on some roads around North Somerset have gone out to public consultation this week.

North Somerset Council has earmarked 27 roads across the Times patch which it believes will benefit from waiting restrictions.

Backwell’s Moor Lane, which is used by many people trying to avoid the station’s car park charges, will see double-yellow lines extended, if the proposals are ratified.

The roads affected are:

* Backwell: Moor Lane and Westfield Road.

* Kenn: Barns Ground.

* Long Ashton: Bramley Copse, Pear Tree Avenue and Long Ashton Road.

* Pill: Hart Close.

* Portbury: Royal Portbury Dock Road roundabout, Portbury Way and Banyard Road.

* Portishead: access road to Brunel Court, Tower Road, Downleaze, Down Road, Weatherly Drive, Clevedon Road, West Hill, West Hill Gardens, Newfoundland Way, Kittiwake Drive, Lower Burlington Road, Gateway Terrace, Burlington Road, Lockside, Eastcliff and Woodacre.

* Wrington: Broad Street.

A council spokesman said: “The proposed restrictions are intended to help traffic flow and improve safety for pedestrians crossing the roads.”

The public consultation will cease at 5pm on March 29.

* Comments can be sent to Director of Development and Environment at Town Hall, Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UJ or emailed to on.street.parking@n-somerset.gov.uk
