Almost 100 walkers, runners and cyclists took to the Strawberry Line for a charity event.

The Yeo Valley Lions Club held its seventh annual Strawberry ‘Lion’ Challenge in May and, now all the sponsorship money has been collected, it has presented a cheque for £1,700 to The Springboard Opportunities Group.

The challenge is a 50:50 sponsored event which enables participants to raise money for their own clubs or charities as well as the Lions chosen charity.

The event was well supported by the local girl guiding groups, North Somerset Young Carers and Cintre, a charity which assists adults with learning difficulties.

While the younger walkers completed the five-mile walk from Yatton Station to the Fisheries Café in Congresbury, the serious competitors went all the way to Axbridge and back.

The club will hold the event again on May 19 next year.
