Nailsea and Backwell Rugby Club has donated £1,000 to Greenslade Preschool following a fire on July 4, which saw a shed containing books, toys and play equipment destroyed.

Staff and children at the Pound Lane centre were left distraught following the incident. However, the community stepped up to the mark, with individuals and businesses donating money toward replacing the equipment. This included Tarmac, which donated labour and materials to replace the ground damaged by the fire, as well as Roxy Home Cleaning Services, Four by Four Creative Services, Café 119, Arnie Palmer of GSE Security, Lindee Lu products and R B Patch.

Now, there are plans to install a new security system at the preschool in the hope of deterring any future attacks.
