Several miles of the M5 will be closed this week to allow roadworks to be carried out.

Highways England plans to shut the northbound carriageway between Clevedon (junction 20) and Portishead (junction 19) for the next few nights, beginning today (Wednesday).

The closure will allow for resurfacing work to be carried out.

The M5 will be closed nightly from 8pm-6am until Friday morning and again later that day from 10pm-6am until Saturday
morning.

It follows resurfacing work at the northbound entry and exit sliproad earlier this week.

During the M5’s partial closure, Highways England says it will put
up diversion signs to keep disruption for motorists to a minimum.

Meanwhile, parts of the A370 between
Congresbury and junction 21 of the M5 will also face roadworks until Friday.

Drivers are being
advised to use the
motorway instead.
