Portishead Yacht and Sailing Club has been given hundreds of pounds towards new equipment by a housing developer.

The club, based in Belton Road, has used the £500 donation from Taylor Wimpey to buy new sails for a topper.

A club spokesman said: “This donation is very much appreciated.

“We welcome all assistance when maintaining our equipment and Taylor Wimpey Bristol has helped the club continue to thrive.

“Without the generous support of organisations like Taylor Wimpey we would be unable to continue the work the club is doing to involve the local community in ongoing projects.”

Taylor Wimpey sales and marketing director, Charlie Joseph, added: “Our Harbour Edge development is very close to the club and we are always keen to support the local community, so we were delighted to help when we heard of the opportunity to provide the funds.”
