Portishead RNLI helped search for a distressed person yesterday (Tuesday).

The crew was called to Battery Point at around 2.50pm to help Avon and Somerset Constabulary rescue the person.

An RNLI spokesman said: “With a risk to life, the crew needed to launch quickly.

“Crew member Nick would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Portishead Open Air Pool who helped him to respond when his pager sounded during his swim.

“It was great teamwork from everyone with a positive outcome.”
