An award-winning drama group has given a cheque worth hundreds of pounds to Portishead Open Air Pool.

The Portishead Players have donated £650 to the lido, as the community trust allows the group to use its café for meetings.

Money was raised through a raffle which was held at each of the Players’ performances over the past year.

Jon Barr, chairman of the pool’s board of trustees, said: “Portishead Pool Community Trust has been able to regularly invest in our pool and other facilities because of such support from community organisations, businesses and Portishead Town Council.

“The thousands who have used the pool during this record-breaking summer will have seen how we use those funds to continually improve swimmers and café users’ experience.”

The Players will perform The Firework Factory from October 18-20 at Somerset Hall in The Precinct, Portishead.
