A graduation ceremony has been held for children in Portishead about to begin school life.

The Nursery, in Combe Road, held the event to wish infants good luck as they head off to primary school.

Each child received a certificate, water bottle and photograph as a parting gift.

There were also songs, poems and stories as the youngsters bid farewell to the nursery.

Jackie Hardie, owner of The Nursery, said: “Some of the children leaving us have been at The Nursery since it first opened and we will miss them a lot.

“However, we have been helping them to prepare for primary school for some time now and they are more than ready for this next step.

“We wish them all good luck and look forward to hearing all about their exciting new experiences.”

The children also promised to return to the nursery in future to let the staff know how they are getting on at primary school.
