Dozens of children have taken part in tennis sessions to mark the end of the summer holiday.

Portishead Lawn Tennis Club, in Esplanade Road, held the training days for more than 30 youngsters.

Lawn Tennis Association qualified coaches put the budding players through their paces while they also honed their skills through a range of fun activities on the court.

Head coach Mike Greedy said: “The children all thoroughly enjoyed the activities, as did the coaching staff.

“We were delighted to see all the youngsters on court having exercise and at the same time making new friends.”

Portishead Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1924 and boasts around 300 members, including a strong junior section.

Earlier this year the club revealed plans to expand its Esplanade Road site.

It wants to do this by creating two new courts on the former putting green.
