Love was in the air at a North Somerset care home last week.

Residents of Portishead’s Haven Lodge, in Harbour Road, spent a special afternoon of Valentine’s Day activities.

A three-course lunch was prepared and people had the opportunity to show their creativity and bring a dash of romance to the home by making cards and decorating heart-shaped cakes.

Among those enjoying the celebrations were husband and wife Ray and Millie Neave, who moved to Portishead in 2003 and live together at the home.

Home manager, Fran Stockwell, believes the day was a success.

She said: “We wanted to be able to celebrate Valentine’s Day in whatever way they chose.

“It was heartwarming to see and hear people celebrating, reminiscing and speaking about their loved ones.

“Staff were really happy to be able to bring a real sense of occasion to the celebrations.”
