Police are appealing for witnesses after a Clevedon supermarket was broken into in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Officers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary were called to the Co-op, in Old Street, at 3.45am on Wednesday.

Investigators believe cigarettes were stolen and the offenders used a car to flee the scene.

A police spokesman said: “We are carrying out forensic enquires as well as checking CCTV footage in the area.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to contact 101 and give the crime reference number 5217109647.”
