A COUPLE from Pill have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Charles and Claira Haynes reached their platinum wedding anniversary on Monday.
The Marine Parade couple, who have two children, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, were treated to a weekend away in Sherborne, Dorset, with their son John to celebrate the milestone.
Charles, now aged 91 and is known to many as Harry, and Claira, aged 89, met during World War Two while Charles was in the RAF.
They were married at on June 4, 1942, in Totterdown, Bristol, and remained in the Bristol area before moving to Pill in the early 1990s.
