A North Somerset gardening club welcomed spring with a ‘very successful’ show.

The Pill and District Gardening Club hosted its seasonal flower show on March 21 where almost 100 exhibitions were on display.

President of the Daffodil Society, Jackie Petherbridge, judged the entries and crowned Rosemarie James best in show.

She also gave advice on how to look after daffodils from cutting to displaying them.

A club spokesman said: “Our congratulations go to all the winners, there was some really tough competition.

“This was another very successful event chaired by Annie Morris and her team of club volunteers.

“To those who didn’t win anything this year, please keep trying.

“It comes down to the smallest attention to detail to make a difference between winning or not being placed.”

The club will host its next meeting on April 18 at St George’s Hall, in Church Lane, from 7.30pm.
