Hundreds of people packed into Pill’s Precinct to watch the Christmas lights illuminate the village.

Morris dancers, Crockerne School choir and the Pill Owls opened the festivities before the switch was flipped on this year’s brilliant display.

Five Christmas trees were among the spectacles this year along with Easton-in-Gordano’s St George’s Church, which was lit up with Christmas lights for the first time.

Visitors were about to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and barbecue food at the switch on while children lined up to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

Andrew Emery, a member of the Pill Light Committee, said: “The event went very well for a little village and there were plenty of things going on to see and enjoy.”

The switch-on was funded by the committee’s membership programme, where people pay £24 a month to be a member and are entered into a prize draw each month to win money.
