There have been a few signs of spring lately with the weather improving ever so slightly and further confirmation that winter is coming to an end was on offer in Portishead this weekend.

The horticultural society’s spring fair took place at the Folk Hall on Saturday afternoon and saw dozens of deserving exhibits win prizes.

Seasonal tulips and daffodils were unsurprisingly among the most popular exhibits on show.

However, the society aims to cater for all and offered up some non-floral classes too.

Georgina Meech was one of the successful entrants, who picked up first prize for her impressive owl cross-stitch.
