Remainers, concerned at Britain’s planned withdrawal from the European Union, have been out campaigning for support in Nailsea.

The North Somerset Open Britain group says it got a great reaction from shoppers in Colliers Walk when it was out canvassing at the end of October.

It sent some members to take part in a rally in Bristol recently and is encouraged with the responses it has received.

Tim James who is the group’s main organiser, said: “Following successful participation in the Bristol rally with around 2,000 fellow EU supporters, we have got back to local campaigning in Nailsea.

“Again we received a great response from both Leavers and Remainers with more and more people now wanting to get into debate as Brexit unfolds.

“As one person said ‘we should have had the current national debate before the referendum’.”
