North Somerset Council has been praised for its parking facilities, receiving awards for safety and disability access.

The council-run car parks at Clevedon’s Salthouse Fields and Nailsea and Backwell Railway Station have retained Park Mark status from the British Parking Association.

The car parks have also been handed Disabled Parking Accreditation, earning praise for accessibility and safety of parking facilities.

The council’s deputy leader, Elfan Ap Rees, said: “Critics of our car park charges may not realise that to achieve these awards means committing to providing high quality parking facilities for everyone.

“We are delighted to have received this accessibility award alongside retaining our Park Mark.

“The fact our car parks currently have, or have retained, accreditation shows our commitment to providing high-quality parking facilities.”
