A popular tennis club in Nailsea is marking its 50th anniversary by inviting past and present members in for a celebration evening.

The club is holding a buffet supper on September 15 with a display of old photographs and mementoes from five decades of the sport.

Members have been putting on events all year and an afternoon of tennis will take place before the supper from 2-5pm.

The club, which is based in Mizzymead Recreation Centre, in Mizzymead Rise, was set up in 1968 with three courts.

Floodlights and an all-weather pitch were later added and the sports facilities are now ranked among the best in North Somerset.

The celebration evening will include praise for people who have helped to progress the club.

The celebration night starts at 7pm. Anyone interested can call 07527 104046 or email
