Emergency services in Nailsea will join forces to host an open day this weekend.

Firefighters from Avon Fire and Rescue Service and police officers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary will run a range of activities and demonstrations at the headquarters, in Pound Lane, on Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Demonstrations including two road traffic collisions and a rescue from a building will take place.

Children can meet police dogs and horses, practice their skills ain a football cage and try out a fingerprint activity with the cadets.

Members from the South Western Ambulance Service, the Community Resilience Team and RNLI will also have stalls for those interested in volunteering.

Phil Rudden, Nailsea acting sergeant, said: “Engaging with the community is a really important role for our local police teams, we aim to speak to people at every opportunity.

“We’re encouraging members of the public to come along, meet officers, enjoy the activities and find out more about what we do.”
