Nailsea’s hugely popular skate park festival will take place in June this year.

The event is normally held in July, but organisers have moved the date forward and are hoping to attract even more competitors this year.

Nailsea Community Skate Park Festival attracts enthusiasts from across the South West to take part in skateboard, scooter and BMX competitions.

Organiser Phill Williams said: “Great progress has already been made with plans for the day, and as well as the action on the recently rebuilt skate park, which will include skateboard, scooter and BMX competitions, there will be numerous stalls and activities to participate in, and of course, lots to eat and drink.”

Organisers teamed up with The Link at Nailsea School a number of years ago, to run the Nailsea Activity Showcase alongside the festival.

Due to a change in personnel, the showcase will not be held this year, but organisers are keen for groups to take part and application forms will be sent out to groups which have previously attended.

Donations and sponsorship enable the event to take place and organisers would like to thank everyone who has supported the festival so far including Holy Trinity and Trendlewood church, Nailsea Town Council and Christians Together in Nailsea.

The team behind the event are still looking for sponsors and volunteers to help on the day and groups to run stalls.

Mr Williams said: “As with any event such as this, the organisers are really keen to increase the size of the team as the event grows, and if you have enjoyed the new skate park while watching your children and teens, and would like to give something back through helping that would be fantastic.

“The event is run purely from local funding donations and takings on the day itself, both of which we are extremely grateful for, so if you would be interested in becoming an official sponsor, or would like to find out more details of the opportunities that exist, please contact me.”

The skate park festival will take place at Millennium Park, off Brockway, on June 9 from 1-5pm.

Anyone interested in helping out at the event, any groups keen to run a stall, or businesses looking to sponsor the festival, can email Phil Williams at phil@christiansurfers.co.uk
