Flooding of homes and businesses is ‘likely’ to affect parts of North Somerset this weekend, according to the Met Office.

Weather forecasters are predicting a bank holiday washout and expect it to cause disruption.

A weather warning is in place from 3pm today (Friday) until 10am tomorrow morning (Saturday).

But any hopes for a sunny second half of the Easter weekend are set to be dashed.

A second weather warning for the South West is in force for 6pm on Sunday until noon on Monday.

North Somerset is expected to be spared any snow however, with the Midlands the furthest south the white stuff is expected to fall.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Heavy rain is likely to affect South West England and parts of South Wales.

“Spray and flooding on roads will probably making journey times longer.

“Flooding of a few homes and business is likely today and tomorrow and there is a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage, on Sunday and Monday.

“There is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services too.”

Train services however are already disrupted this week due to engineering works.
