North Somerset residents should brace themselves for more strong winds this weekend, which has prompted the Met Office to issue a yellow weather warning.

Coastal areas in the district may be particularly affected by the strong winds, which are expected to arrive between 4am and 11.59pm on Saturday.

The Met Office says coastal areas are likely to be affected by large waves, and there is potential for buildings to be flooded.

A spokesman said: “Some transport disruption is likely across the warning area, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport. Short term loss of power and other services is also possible.”

The chief forecaster added: “Gusts exceeding 50mph are expected widely within the warning area. These are expected to coincide with high tides, leading to locally dangerous conditions.”
