A mermaid has taken to the water in Clevedon ahead of a Marine Lake celebration.

Marina the mermaid, donated by Malcolm Curley, has been placed in the centre of the lake ready for an event to highlight the support given by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

The Marine Lake Enthusiasts (MARLENS) and Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust will host Light Up The Lake on December 9 to pay tribute to the HLF’s £800,000 grant to the lake’s refurbishment project.

It will begin at the pier in The Beach at 2pm before a lamplight procession heads to Marine Lake at 4pm when boats, lanterns and swimmers will take to the water.
