Important road repairs will see parts of the M5 southbound closed this week.

The works will start today (Tuesday) to repair parts of the busy commuter route between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare).

Two of the three lanes will be closed from 8pm this evening (Tuesday) and will not reopen until 6am tomorrow (Wednesday).

Lanes one to three will be closed from 9pm to 6am each day from Thursday to Saturday near Kenn as well as the two outside lanes between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 19 (Portishead).

Lanes one and two of the motorway between Portishead and Bristol will also be closed while emergency barrier repairs are carried out from tonight until Monday.

The southbound exit at Weston will also be closed from 8pm to 6am tomorrow to Thursday.
