Long Ashton Community Centre (LACC) is rasing money for a new rowing machine which will eventually be part of an outdoor gym trail.

The charity has raised more than £870 for the equipment so far but it is looking to raise £1,500 in total to pay for the equipment.

The LACC provides people in the village with education and leisure services and will look to install the trail at Peel Park in Long Ashton.

Manager of LACC, Sarah Leong, believes the equipment will help to fill a void in outdoor facilities within the village.

She said: “Eventually we’ll be looking to set up a new outdoor gym as part of our community garden project.

“Villagers took part in a study by the LACC which highlighted the need for more outdoor activities in Long Ashton.

“Teenagers and adults would be able to use the gym, but there’s still a long way to go before its completion.”

The LACC has a token giving box at Long Ashton’s Co-op in Weston Road to help boost its fundraising efforts.
