Long Ashton lit up by Christmas lights

A North Somerset village was lit up like a Christmas tree this weekend during its light switch on.
Light Up Long Ashton is a volunteer-led event which is funded by the parish council.
People were welcomed by music from the village’s samba band and more than 150 people arrived to see the illuminations.
The Christmas lights were switched on by five-year-old Phoebe from Northleaze School, who won a colouring competition which was held in schools and nurseries around the area.
Volunteer Victoria Rooke said: “It was so well supported by the village and there was a brilliant atmosphere.”
Visitors enjoyed a hog road, enjoy a glass of mulled wine and prosecco and eat some festive mince pies at businesses in the village.
Santa was also on hand with his snow dog to greet people and find out from the young people of the village what they wanted under their tree this year.
