Leaders of a Walking for Health group in Nailsea have been rewarded for committing 10 years to the scheme.

The Nailsea group is celebrating its 10th anniversary and North Somerset Council’s sport and active lifestyles officers paid tribute to the hard work of the volunteers.

Walking for Health is organised nationally by The Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support and co-ordinated locally by North Somerset Council.

The free walks are led by trained volunteers and are aimed at encouraging people to become more active or to help those recovering from a bout of illness or an injury.

Walk leaders Diane Bennett, Vivian Parsons, John Wilson, Brian Webb and Gordon Bennett were given certificates for their dedication to the scheme.

Walks start every Monday at 11am, from either Scotch Horn or The Grove Sports Centre.

For details, call Diane on 01275 810067.
