Equestrian centre to hold free open day

A free open day to teach children how to ride and take care of ponies will be held this weekend.

Sperrings Farm and Equestrian Centre in Moor Lane, Clapton-in-Gordano, will host the equestrian event at 10.30am on Sunday.

Visitors will be able to learn about the different activities on offer and how children can get involved in horse riding.

Co-owner Bex Letts said: “Teaching children how to interact with animals at an early age can set them up for a lifetime of strong relationships.

“It is a myth that horse riding is just for the wealthy and our aim is to open up pony activities to as many children as possible.

“It is not only great fun, it gets the youngsters outside in the fresh air and it also allows them to learn about responsibility and how to behave around animals.

“Being based on a farm allows us to introduce children to other animals too.”
