A dedicated volunteer from Nailsea was presented with an honourary life membership to Parkinson’s UK to recognise her hard work.

Elaine Lewis has served on the committee for the North West Somerset branch of Parkinson’s UK for 40 years and has taken on every role in the group.

Elaine is stepping down from the committee and the group presented her with an award to mark the occasion.

Acting branch chairman Jill Gilbert said: “Elaine holds a demanding job, working long hours, and fundraises tirelessly at her workplace, raising many thousands of pounds for Parkinson’s over the years.

“She organises events for the branch and inspires her work colleagues to help, too. She volunteers for events and uses social media to promote awareness and fundraising events. Honorary life membership of Parkinson’s UK is rarely awarded and we are all very proud indeed of Elaine.”
