Community-minded children at the Pill school held a ‘jeans for genes’ day in aid of Genetic Disorders UK.

The school also ran assemblies and class discussions to raise awareness about genetic disorders.

The school also hosted a mufti day to raise funds for the British Red Cross London Fire Relief Fund, which is helping people affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

The events at the school in Ham Green raised close to £1,000, which will be split between the two good causes.

The school’s headteacher Justin Humphreys said: “We have a long-established tradition of fundraising at St Katherine’s.

“The fundraising events are always well-supported and they also give our students an understanding of issues that affect the world around them and how they can make a difference.”
