St Katherine’s School, in Pill, is toasting ‘fantastic’ GCSE results today (Thursday), with pupils’ ‘dedication and hard work’ paying off.

A summer of waiting came to an end this morning, as students tore open envelopes to reveal their grades.

Almost two thirds of grades in English and maths were 9-4, while high standards were achieved in subjects like philosophy, statistics, history, biology, and Spanish.

Tara Harvey was the school’s top performer, achieving a clean sweep of nine grade 9s which ranked her in the top 0.5 per cent in the country, while Dexter Mott and Peter Hadley earned six 9s.

Headteacher Justin Humphreys said: “These fantastic results are a credit to this year group who, in spite of a more challenging curriculum and different assessment format, have coped admirably.

“Their dedication and hard work alongside unwavering support from their families and St Katherine’s committed staff has delivered some great results for our pupils.

“Often the headlines and statistics do not do justice to the achievements of individuals who have overcome challenges showing tremendous resilience and determination along their journey.

“I am proud of each and every one and wish all our wonderful young people every success as they take their next steps.”
