Pupils aged 16 plus from Ravenswood School, in Pound Lane, took part in the literature festival at the Tobacco Factory.

The budding performers drew cheers and applause for their impressive production of The Tempest.

Headteacher Philippa Clark said afterwards: “Ravenswood post-16 students performed so well in The Tempest. Their performance conveyed well both the tragic and comic aspects of Shakespeare’s play.

“They presented themselves with confidence and enthusiasm and through this delighted the audience with their acting, singing and dance routines. I am so proud of them all.”

The annual event is the world’s largest youth drama festival and 30,000 participants took part from more than 1,000 schools across the country.
