Children from Golden Valley Primary School in Nailsea joined pupils around the world to mark the day of international friendship.

The day is celebrated by children who belong to organisations including brownies, cubs, rainbows and guides.

World Thinking Day is held on February 22 each year, which marks the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Olave.

School governor, Pauline Davis, said: “It was lovely to see so many children coming to school in their uniforms. It’s a real delight that so many children are proud to belong to one of the guiding and scouting movements.”

The occasion has been celebrated globally since 1926 and provides an opportunity to speak out on issues that affect young women and fundraise for 10 million girl guides and girl scouts in 150 countries.
