A dedicated group of parents and children gave up their weekend to tidy up the grounds of a Nailsea school.

The hard-working team spent two days digging, pruning, painting and shovelling to spruce up the grounds of St Francis Primary School, ready for new playground equipment to be installed during the half term week.

Members of the Friends of St Francis have spent three years raising around £20,000 to buy and install more equipment so children can climb. swing and challenge themselves more during playtimes.

Parents helped to shovel several tonnes of stone for the groundworks while others painted outdoor benches and tables to brighten up the area.

A barbecue and homemade cakes kept the group well-fuelled during the weekend.

Excited pupils from the school, in Station Road, are looking forward to trying out the new play equipment when they return to lessons after the half term holiday.
